Sweat Tour box office line: Los Angeles, night 2 by Liz Brown

I’m writing this on the Amtrak back to Chicago from Los Angeles. It’s been a strange and long and wonderful 60 hours since I left my apartment with only a backpack (thank you, Spirit Airlines). (Actually, I snuck my fanny pack onto the plane under my sweater, but they don’t need to know that.) As soon as I landed, I took a bus to a coffee shop for a breakfast sandwich and 6 shots of espresso, then another bus to Kia Forum, where I queued for a grand total of 6 hours, with the hope of getting box-office-released tickets. (Spoiler alert: we did!)

The first photo is of the girlies I spent the day in line with; after spending such a long time together, we decided to get seats together, too, to continue our fun evening. We split up to quickly change, Carleigh and I getting ready in the Von bathroom and snagging a few snacks to eat on our walk back. Something about a grody grocery store bathroom as the prequel for our evening felt very brat.

Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour: Taylor-Gating & 1989 announcement Los Angeles night 6 by Liz Brown

I don’t know if I’ve ever been so tired as I was after this week. I walked over 50 miles and worked from about 2pm until 1am every day. But it was so worth it and I’ve never felt more like I’m meant to be somewhere or do something as I did during this summer, photographing Taylor Swift fans and their creativity and community. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. I’d do this every weekend for the rest of my life and never get bored. Thank you to all the girlies who let me dance beside them and let me take a photo of them on their best days. ilysb <3

You know what song this is. <3

The security guard was singing and wanted to come over to trade bracelets, literally so cute.

The cardigan being celebrated during “Cardigan.”

This dude was running across the front of the crowd and hyping everyone up and if there are going to be men in my life, this is the only energy I will accept from them.

The area with the largest crowd (where most of these photos were taken) had cool seating options and Taylor was super audible—however, we couldn’t see anything. A few folks had the livestreams pulled up on their phones and screams erupted every time she walked out in a new blue outfit. As I was walking around later, though, I found this iconic projector setup. You can’t tell me Swifties aren’t ingenious—this is my Superbowl.

I knooooow folklore and evermore are two separate eras, but the outfits for them tend to blend together and there aren’t often enough images separate sections. <3

taylor-gating

The two girlies on the last photo were taylor-gating while their kids were at the show inside. They used to be neighbors, but hadn’t seen each other in years, and decided that this was the perfect reunion. We chatted for at least 20 minutes, they shared their drinks with me, and the whole interaction was one of the most delightful parts of my trip.
